In the presence of H.E. Eng. Khalil bin Salamah, Vice Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Industrial Affairs; Mr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Ajlan, Chairman of the Saudi Contractors Authority; Mr. Waleed bin Hamad Al-Arainan, Secretary-General of the Federation of Saudi Chambers; and Mr. Taha bin Ahmed Khayyat, Chairman of the National Committee for Ceramics and Porcelain, the approval of local porcelain and ceramic manufacturers holding the Saudi Quality Mark under standard contracting agreements was announced yesterday during a ceremony held at the Federation of Saudi Chambers headquarters in Riyadh.

This significant step aims to support local content and enhance the quality of materials used in contracting projects.

The initiative forms part of the Saudi Contractors Authority’s efforts to strengthen the reliability of supply chains, regulate contractual relationships among project stakeholders, and standardize supplier selection criteria. It is designed to ensure compliance with approved standards and specifications, reduce technical risks and contractual disputes, and accelerate procurement and approval procedures.

Within this framework, and at the initiative of the National Committee for Ceramics and Porcelain at the Federation of Saudi Chambers, the Saudi Contractors Authority has worked jointly with the Committee for more than a year to implement a project linking national manufacturers holding the Saudi Quality Mark with standard contracting agreements. The initiative is intended to strengthen the presence of national products and enhance the efficiency and sustainability of the contracting sector.

The initiative is expected to contribute to increasing the procurement of national products, improving quality standards in construction projects, and enhancing market transparency, thereby supporting the Kingdom’s industrial development objectives and the localization of supply chains.

The Saudi Contractors Authority seeks to regulate and develop the contracting industry, build distinguished productive capabilities, encourage innovation, and strengthen communication among stakeholders across the sector. It also works to create a secure and enabling environment that serves project owners, contractors, industry professionals, and other stakeholders.
