The Saudi Contractors Authority opened its three-day virtual Contracting Sector Challenges Forum yesterday. Panel discussions and workshops explored major challenges during crises and possible responses.
Speakers on the first day represented the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, Mashroat, the Center of Spending Efficiency, Kearney, Nesma Water and Energy, and the law office of Majed Mohammed Garoub.
The opening discussion began at 12:30 PM and focused on government support for contracting during crises. Participants included Hamad Al-Kanhal, Deputy Minister of Finance for Financial Affairs and Accounts, and Sattam Al-Harbi, Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Social Development for Inspection and Work Environment Development.
The session examined the forms of support available to contractors and how government entities provided them.
A second discussion addressed the impact of crises on contracting. Speakers shared experiences and solutions to help the sector prevent and overcome crises.
The first day concluded with a workshop on contracts that protect parties' rights, presented by the Center of Spending Efficiency.
Forum sessions continue daily from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM. Attendance is open to contracting professionals and other interested companies and individuals.
