Eng. Hassan bin Mohammed Zainuddin, Chairman of SCA's Election Supervisory Committee and Assistant Deputy Minister for Sector Affairs, announced preparations for elections to the Authority's third Board term.
He referred to Council of Ministers Resolution No. 510, dated 23/11/1436 AH, approving SCA's governing regulation. The Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing had issued a decision forming the committee to oversee the elections.
The supervisory committee comprises two ministry representatives, one serving as chairman, and two principal SCA members. Its responsibilities include setting electoral procedures and timelines in line with the implementing regulations, forming subcommittees and defining their duties.
The committee will also document the election process through the announcement of final results and submit those results to the minister for approval.
A separate three-member appeals committee will review challenges to the final results. It comprises two ministry representatives, one serving as chairman, and one principal SCA member.
The supervisory committee invited all Saudi contractors registered with SCA to take part as candidates and voters. This third Board term will be the second selected through elections.
Voting will take place electronically in response to COVID-19 social distancing measures. The process supports SCA's work to develop contracting and improve standards for those working in the sector.
The chairman thanked the Kingdom's leadership, the minister, the Deputy Minister for Contractor Classification Affairs, and the supporting teams at the ministry and SCA for their continued support and cooperation.
