The Saudi Contractors Authority launched a study on transforming construction into an industrialized sector, with public- and private-sector stakeholders taking part.
The project aims to create a transition roadmap and identify solutions, enabling measures and modern and future construction technologies with relevant organizations.
The launch meeting examined planning problems, late delivery, repeated budget overruns, unsatisfactory quality and insufficient attention to worker safety.
The study will focus on moving more work from construction sites to factories. This can expand the use of modern technology, improve control over product quality and quantity, affect costs and production speed, and strengthen safety standards.
SCA Secretary-General Eng. Thabet Al-Suwaid said the project supports the Authority's strategic role in developing contracting. SCA will analyze challenges with relevant organizations and experts and hold further stakeholder meetings to identify effective solutions.
The Authority also builds productive capabilities and provides electronic services through Muqawil to support contractors and their workforce.
