The Saudi Contractors Authority has updated its strategy for 2020–2024 in response to changes across the contracting sector. These include Saudi Vision 2030 programs, new public bodies, changes in existing bodies' responsibilities, stakeholder expectations and sector challenges.

SCA developed a forward-looking vision for contracting to address current challenges and guide its updated plan. The main inputs were the contracting ecosystem and its challenges, stakeholder expectations, international best practices and benchmarks, market trends, Saudi Vision 2030, and the Authority's future ambitions.

The strategy was developed within the roles and powers granted to SCA by Council of Ministers Resolution No. 510, ensuring it supports the purposes for which the Authority was established.

The updated plan has four main themes and nine strategic objectives. It includes 22 initiatives: nine regulatory initiatives, eight service and sector-enabling initiatives, one specialized services initiative, and four internal initiatives.

The specialized services initiative will provide high-impact solutions, particularly for small and medium-sized contracting establishments. The internal initiatives focus on SCA's capabilities and financial sustainability.

SCA presented the strategy during its fourth General Assembly meeting, held remotely on Thursday, 15/01/1442 AH, corresponding to September 3, 2020.

Chairman Eng. Osama bin Hassan Al-Afaliq welcomed members. Secretary-General Eng. Thabet bin Mubarak Al-Suwaid then presented the 2019 annual report and achievements, followed by the 2019 final accounts and the proposed 2020 budget.

Members' questions were answered throughout the meeting. The strategy through 2024 and its supporting initiatives were presented, followed by the appointment and remuneration of the auditor for 2020.

The General Assembly voted on and approved all agenda items.
