The Saudi Contractors Authority will chair the Federation of Contractors from Islamic Countries, affiliated with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and host its headquarters in Saudi Arabia.
SCA submitted a formal request to the Federation's General Secretariat. Its General Assembly agreed that SCA would chair the Board for the first term and that Saudi Arabia would host the headquarters.
SCA will equip and operate the headquarters and fund technical, administrative and logistical needs until the Federation can independently carry out its responsibilities and activities.
The initiative supports Saudi Vision 2030's aim of attracting regional and international organizations to the Kingdom, drawing on its strategic position linking Asia, Europe and Africa.
Federation and SCA Chairman Eng. Zakaria bin Abdulrahman Al-Abdulqader said the organization's purpose, structure, aligned procedures and shared efforts across member countries provide a strong foundation for success.
Established in 1991, the Federation brings together professional bodies, unions and authorities from 57 countries across four continents and three languages.
It aims to strengthen contracting in member countries, build an advanced construction industry, and improve the skills of engineers and other professionals.
The Federation also works to expand member countries' access to markets and meet the needs of development, infrastructure and sustainability projects.
