The Saudi Contractors Authority announced that more than 1,000 electronic standard construction contracts had been concluded through Muqawil since the service launched in 2021. Their estimated total value exceeds SAR 308 million.
These include 600 structural construction contracts excluding materials and 300 including materials. The largest contract exceeded SAR 50 million, while the smallest was valued at SAR 10,000.
More than 425 contracts were recorded in the central region, over 185 in the south, more than 110 in the west, over 90 in the east, and 20 in the north. They cover structural work, plastering, plumbing, electrical work and air conditioning.
SCA introduced electronic standard contracts to improve construction quality and protect all contracting parties. Its 36 contract templates cover technical and legal requirements and clarify relationships among owners, contractors and subcontractors.
The initiative also aims to improve performance and reduce failures and disputes that can delay projects and handovers.
Each contract includes the parties' obligations, payment and quantity schedules, and delay penalties. Two annexes cover technical specifications and execution methods, and conditions governing progress-linked payments and work guarantees.
Project owners can review contracts before approving them through National Single Sign-On.
Interested users can visit Muqawil for contract types, frequently asked questions and the guide to using electronic standard contracts.
