The second day of the Future Projects Forum opened with a presentation by Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR). Civil Works and Railway Projects Director Abdulilah Al-Huthail reviewed its progress in connecting cities and transporting passengers, goods and minerals.
He explained SAR's role in the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program, including linking economic activity centers, expanding railway infrastructure and capacity, and supporting the Kingdom's position as a global logistics hub. He also outlined future investment opportunities.
Ma'aden's Vice President of Project Management Saad bin Aiban discussed the company's development, challenges and future projects. A representative of The Red Sea Development Company then presented its strategy, scope and plans.
National Water Company Vice President for Projects and Technical Services Eng. Mansour Abu Ithnain highlighted sustainable development and a reduction in stalled projects. He attributed this improvement to qualified Saudi project managers and a methodology developed through extensive study, and reviewed current and future projects.
Eng. Wajdi bin Hassan Tolah, who oversees the Vision Realization Office at the Makkah Region Development Authority, outlined its responsibilities and development. He discussed 23 approved initiatives under the Pilgrim Experience Program and the comprehensive plan for Makkah and the holy sites.
Saudi Customs representatives Eng. Waleed Al-Qarni, Executive Director of Projects, and Eng. Majed Al-Hilal, Executive Director of Maintenance and Operations, presented infrastructure, building, road and residential projects. They explained schedules, objectives, application procedures, first aid and site safety requirements.
NEOM Executive Director of Projects Eng. Awad Al-Shahri outlined upcoming plans and projects.
Eng. Faisal Saud Al-Suraihi of the Royal Commission in Yanbu and Eng. Abdullah Kashghari of the Royal Commission in Jubail discussed their projects and Vision 2030 objectives. Priorities include attracting industrial and petrochemical investors, developing residential and industrial areas, and strengthening environmental protection and safety.
Eng. Faisal Al-Qahtani of the Saudi Fund for Development reviewed 45 years of activity, private-sector partnerships, projects and application procedures.
Eng. Zaki Al-Omran of the Eastern Province Municipality presented its projects, services and partnerships under the National Transformation Program 2020 and Vision 2030.
Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Arifi of the Saline Water Conversion Corporation outlined future projects and qualification procedures. The final presentation came from Eng. Shadi Al-Ghamri, Senior Executive Director of City Development and Services at King Abdullah Economic City, on its projects and strategic location.
The two-day forum at the Crowne Plaza in Riyadh concluded with three agreements. Schneider Electric Saudi Arabia signed an MoU with Nesma & Partners and contracts with Al-Kifah Contracting and KAIS for substations and prefabricated substation buildings.
The agreements support modern technology and professional project delivery under Vision 2030. They also cover local production of mobile substations and prefabricated buildings as part of industrial localization for Aramco's Marjan project. Eight agreements were signed over the forum's two days.
SCA Secretary-General Eng. Thabet Al-Suwaid said the Authority's vision is to build the future with confidence by strengthening trust across contracting. He encouraged industry participants to make strategic use of Vision 2030 opportunities.
He said the forum's main goal was greater transparency among contractors, stakeholders and participating organizations. He thanked SCA and participant teams, welcomed the positive feedback, and said suggestions would help shape the following year's forum.
