His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Riyadh, inaugurated the Future Projects Forum 2020 today. An initiative of the Saudi Contractors Authority (SCA), the Forum runs until Wednesday and brings together 35 public- and private-sector entities and leading contracting companies.

His Royal Highness also opened the accompanying exhibition and toured its stands.

SCA Chairman Eng. Osama bin Hassan Al-Afaliq explained that the Forum promotes integration and coordination among key stakeholders in the contracting sector to deliver Saudi Vision 2030 programs and initiatives, drawing on local, regional and international expertise.

He noted that the Forum fulfills responsibilities assigned to the Authority under its governing regulations, issued by Council of Ministers Resolution No. 510 dated 23/11/1436 AH, to develop the contracting sector and improve the capabilities of its workforce.

He added that SCA seeks to inform contractors and relevant stakeholders about the scale and nature of upcoming projects and new investment opportunities in the Kingdom’s development projects, in line with its strategic plan and implementation initiatives.

The Forum enables public- and private-sector project owners to present their projects to contractors and industry stakeholders. A total of 35 entities are presenting more than 850 projects with an estimated value exceeding SAR 600 billion, with over 2,000 contractors and interested participants attending.

Al-Afaliq explained that these vital projects support Saudi Vision 2030 and its three pillars: a vibrant society, a thriving economy and an ambitious nation.

The Vision’s initiatives span fields that require a mature, strong and well-organized contracting sector, including transportation, logistics, education, healthcare, tourism, entertainment, hospitality, real estate development, energy, utilities and manufacturing.

Al-Afaliq thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince for the generous financial support provided to SCA, enabling it to implement its strategic plan and initiatives to organize the contracting sector and build its future with confidence.

He also thanked the Minister of Commerce and Investment, the Ministry’s staff, and SCA’s public- and private-sector partners for their support.

Attendees watched a presentation about the Saudi Contractors Authority and its services, programs and initiatives.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Deputy Governor of Riyadh presented commemorative plaques to the Forum’s sponsors and supporters and joined participants for a group photograph.
