H.E. Mr. Musaed bin Abdulaziz Al-Daoud, Mayor of the Holy Makkah Municipality, held a meeting with Mr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Ajlan, Chairman of the Saudi Contractors Authority (SCA), and Mr. Abdulmajeed bin Mohammed Al-Rashoudi, Secretary-General of the Authority, in the presence of a number of senior officials from both sides. The meeting addressed the current state of the contracting sector in Makkah and explored ways to further develop and regulate it in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
Discussions focused on strengthening integration between the two entities to qualify and empower contractors according to clear professional standards, as well as launching training and awareness programs to enhance efficiency and quality in project delivery. The meeting also reviewed the activation of the “Ertiqa” Portal to assess contractors’ technical and financial readiness, the adoption of unified standard contracts and the contract documentation platform, and the promotion of specialization in areas such as construction, finishing works, and the healthcare sector.
Mr. Mohammed Al-Ajlan emphasized the importance of the partnership with the Holy Makkah Municipality in enhancing project delivery quality and improving the business environment. He noted that the Authority is working to promote greater awareness among contractors and provide modern digital tools, such as the “Construction Cost Calculator,” to improve spending efficiency and support contractors with data and digital services.
In a related development, the Makkah Chamber organized a meeting chaired by Mr. Khalid bin Dubais Al-Harthi, Chairman of the Contractors Committee and a member of the Chamber’s Board of Directors. The meeting hosted Mr. Mohammed Al-Ajlan, Mr. Abdulmajeed Al-Rashoudi, a number of SCA representatives, business leaders, and contractors from the region to explore opportunities for cooperation between the Authority and the Chamber in supporting the local contracting sector and addressing the challenges facing contractors.
During the meeting, Al-Ajlan emphasized that the Authority places significant importance on developing the sector’s business environment and building competitive national capabilities. Al-Harthi, meanwhile, commended the Authority’s efforts to regulate and develop the contracting industry and strengthen engagement with the private sector in support of sustainable development in Makkah.
