Deputy Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing Eng. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Budair opened the Construction Technology Conference 2022 today. SCA is organizing the event in Riyadh on December 14–15 under the patronage of Minister Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail.
Al-Budair said 44 modern construction factories across the Kingdom have a combined capacity exceeding 25,000 housing units a year. The ministry's modern construction initiative supports these factories to move work from sites into factories and create an environment that attracts Saudi men and women.
He added that financing had been provided for 22 factories with annual capacity exceeding 27,000 units to enter the construction sector.
The initiative's new strategy targets 80 to 90 construction technology factories over the next five years. These would create more than 114,000 direct and indirect jobs across design, manufacturing, installation and the wider supply chain.
SCA Chairman Eng. Zakaria bin Abdulrahman Al-Abdulqader said the conference connects experts and industry professionals. He reaffirmed SCA's support for the sector through initiatives that recognize excellence and encourage innovation.
More than 500 local and international engineering and construction leaders are sharing ideas and digital solutions to improve project design, construction and operation, with a focus on sustainability.
Over 60 speakers and experts from leading organizations will discuss digital transformation, digital twins, virtual construction, modern building methods, the metaverse, decarbonization, geographic information systems and design automation.
The event will also present practical examples from more than ten digital disciplines, from the Internet of Things to machine learning and the metaverse.
SCA works to regulate and develop contracting, build productive capabilities, address contractors' challenges, encourage innovation and strengthen communication among stakeholders.
